Spring Workshop 2016: Sea Palms Optional Activities for Thursday, May 19 Afternoon:
UGA MAREX Tour:
Join us for a tour of the UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant Brunswick facility. The trip will begin by boarding the RV Georgia Bulldog, a 72-foot shrimp boat for a cruise and trawl around the beautiful St. Simons sound. On-board this research vessel you will learn about Georgia’s fishing and shrimping industries, conduct a research trawl to see what kind of aquatic creatures we can collect, and learn about the coastal ecosystems that support these industries. On our return to the dock, faculty and staff of the Marine Extension service will provide an overview of the Ecoscapes garden and share the programs and mission of the facility. We will end the tour with a discussion of current economic development issues related to our oyster hatchery, coastal tourism, and other opportunities along the coast of Georgia
Departs Sea Palms at 11:50 a.m. with a box lunch. Cost: $35. Click here to purchase this Tour.
Tour sponsored by the UGA Georgia Certified Economic Developer Program.
