I hope your 2017 is off to a great start, and you are as excited as I am about the opportunities ahead of us for networking, professional development, and public policy in GEDA in the new year.
It is an honor to serve you as GEDA's chair this year. Greg Wright led the organization well last year. We had excellent turnout and sponsorship support at our monthly programs, Spring Workshop, and Annual Conference in 2016. Great programming and networking helped drive attendance last year, and I look forward to building on last year's success in 2017.
As revealed at the Annual Conference in Savannah last September, I want 2017 to be the year of the Young Professionals in GEDA. We will still strive to provide meaningful programming and networking opportunities for all our members, but special emphasis will be put on our Young Professionals this year. I've had small group meetings with several different subsets of Young Professionals in the organization, and it's clear that they appreciate the special attention that will be given to them this year.
No matter what your age or position is, you can find a place to plug into GEDA. We have a Committee and Special Interest Group (SIG) structure that offers a variety of opportunities for involvement. Please make it a goal this year to be actively involved in GEDA. It's like anything. You get out of it what you put into it. I'm proof of that. My active involvement in GEDA has helped me develop as an economic developer and a person.
I look forward to seeing you on February 6th at our monthly luncheon at the Crowne Plaza and at the Legislative Event at the Georgia State Capitol on the morning of February 7th.
