From The Ground Up

If you’re like me, you spend a lot of time in your vehicle. Driving to and from work, meetings, and all the other events that fill our schedules. When I’m not on the phone, one thing I enjoy doing is listening to podcasts, and there is one I hope you will check out.
Last year, Consultant Connect started a podcast called From The Ground Up and includes interviews with some of the top economic developers in the nation.
As you can imagine, Georgia economic developers appear on the program regularly. Most recently, GEDA Board member Andrea Schruijer from the Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority was a guest on the podcast. In addition to Andrea, other Georgians who have appeared include Misti Martin from the Cherokee Office of Economic Development, Jonathon Sangster from Georgia Power, Annie Baxter formerly with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and Brenda Robbins from Georgia Power. Two of our former Georgia colleagues, Cal Wray and Becca Hardin, have also appeared.
In addition, you can look at an archive of shows and find interviews with site location consultants on a podcast called An Inside Look. Georgia-based site location consultants who have appeared on the program include: Amy Gerber from Jones Lang LaSalle, Kate McEnroe from Kate McEnroe Consulting, and Betty McIntosh from Cushman & Wakefield.
I enjoy learning from my peers, and these podcasts are a great way to do so. It is very interesting to hear about the challenges that economic developers face across the nation, but, more importantly, the guests talk about leadership and innovative programs they are implementing in their communities.
I encourage you to check it out at consultantconnect.org or through Apple Itunes.
Finally, I hope you are planning to join us for the final GEDA luncheon of the year on November 14th. This is our annual awards program, and we will recognize our deals of the year and present several other important awards. Most importantly for me…I will officially pass the gavel to our incoming chair Anna Chafin. This is always one of my favorite luncheons of the year, and I hope you will attend.
